How does SafeJourney work?

When you set off on a journey, launch SafeJourney and choose your tracker friend. From here, your tracker will see your journey plotted along a map as you travel. To ensure that you're safe, SafeJourney will ask you to enter your chosen passcode to 'check in' at predefined intervals through out your journey. If preferred, these check-ins can be switched off. If for whatever reason you fail to enter your passcode, SafeJourney will notify your tracker displaying on a map where the failed check-in has occurred. Your tracker friends can monitor your progress on the SafeJourney website or by using the free SafeJourney Tracker app where users benefit from push notifications.

What happens if I close SafeJourney after starting a journey?

Once you have started a journey, it's perfectly ok to close SafeJourney by pressing your device's home button. The application will continue to track your progress in the background leaving you free to check emails or chat on the phone. When it's time to checkin, a push notification will alert you to open the app back up and enter your passcode. Once checked-in, you're free to get back to whatever you were doing.

Does SafeJourney drain my device's battery a lot?

Due to the importance of SafeJourney being accurate, your device's GPS system is used to relay your current position as you move. This will run the battery down more than normal. A fully-charged device can run SafeJourney in journey-mode for around 5 hours.

What happens if my device's battery runs out mid-journey?

If your device's battery runs out and SafeJourney can no longer send updates to your friends, unfortunately your friends will not be notified of the reasoning. In such a case, we recommend manually informing your tracker friend as soon as possible. A fix for this is under development and will be available soon in an update via the app store.

Is SafeJourney collecting personal information about me?

SafeJourney uses private links to allow you to share your whereabouts only with the people you wish to. Private links remain active for 10 days, after which they are deleted. SafeJourney will never share any of your information with third parties.

How often is my online map updated?

Friends viewing journeys via the SafeJourney website or Tracker app will see journeys update every 300 meters travelled. Check-in updates appear instantaneously.

4. Limitations

In no event shall SafeJourney or its suppliers be liable for any damages arising out of the use or inability to use the materials on SafeJourney's website or via it's mobile applications, even if SafeJourney or a SafeJourney authorized representative has been notified orally or in writing of the possibility of such damage. Because some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on implied warranties, or limitations of liability for consequential or incidental damages, these limitations may not apply to you.

The materials appearing on SafeJourney's web site could include technical, typographical, or photographic errors. Privacy Policy

Your privacy is very important to us. SafeJourney will store your journey information on it's servers for no longer than 10 days after which it will be automatically deleted. Furthermore, none of this information can be linked to you directly or identify you personally. Journey data created by you is stored securely and is only accessible by whomever you choose as a tracker. Neither the information held regarding you or anyone tracking your journeys will ever be sold to third parties.
